Weatherization - The complete Solution
Part 1 - Air-Sealing
Air-sealing is the process of eliminating the air penetrations at the basement and attic levels of your home.
Due to the "stack effect," outside air is allowed to penetrate your home at the basement level (low pressure zone). It is then driven upwards through the heated living area and finally out through the attic (high pressure zone). This movement by the stack effect drives heated air out of your house. Air-sealing the basement to reduce the inward air penetrations and air-sealing the attic to reduce the outward air penetrations can dramatically lessen your loss of heat.
We use a blower door test to guide us in our work and find the various air penetrations in your home.
By air-sealing the home, we caulk or spray foam the air penetrations shut.

- Rim Joist (where masonry foundation meets wood infrastructure) (see bottom picture)
- Plumbing and Electrical Penetrations
- Chimney area
- Interior Wall Tops (see top picture)
- Recessed Lights & Ceiling Lights
